Anuja Bhatta, Ph.D.
Anuja received her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Orleans and then joined University of Kansas for her graduate studies in the lab of Dr. Stephen H. Benedict. Her graduate work focused on studying earliest signaling differences between different costimulatory molecules in T cells. After her graduation, she joined Clinical Reference Laboratory in Kansas and worked on developing PCR based COVID-19 diagnostic assay. She then moved to Dallas and joined Dr. Matthais Wolf’s lab in UTSW where she studied mouse physiology to elucidate the role of different proteins in renal ion channel regulation and metabolism. In Reese lab, she will be working on helminth and herpesvirus coinfection. She is a passionate advocate for science education and outreach. Outside the lab, Anuja likes to watch movies, go for long walks in nature and try different cuisines from different countries. She has completed tandem skydive jump from Skydive Monterey Bay, CA (15,000 feet). She has two beautiful daughters and a dog named "Audio".
